BubleGum: A Whimsical Display Font That Captures Attention
Testing BubleGum Across Brand Touchpoints
- Logo Design: On the bakery logo, it looked fantastic. Paired with a simple icon of a croissant, BubleGum gave the logo a warm, inviting feel that matched the brand’s personality.
- Packaging Mockup: When placed on a mockup of a cookie box, the font read clearly from a distance and added a touch of charm. It worked especially well on pastel-colored backgrounds.
- Business Cards: At a smaller size, it held up decently, though I noticed some of the subtleties got lost. For business cards, I’d recommend using it for a tagline or accent text rather than body copy.
- Social Media Layouts: On Instagram stories and carousel headers, BubleGum popped beautifully. It drew attention without being overwhelming, especially when used for short headlines or calls to action like “New Seasonal Menu!”
- Website Header: For the bakery’s homepage hero section, I used BubleGum as the main headline over a warm-toned background image. It added a sense of joy and approachability, which helped set the tone for the brand.
Where BubleGum Excels — And Where It Falls Short
- Logo design
- Packaging titles and product names
- Social media headers and promotional graphics
- Poster and flyer titles
- Accent text in editorial layouts
Pairing BubleGum with Other Fonts
- Sans Serif: Using a clean sans like Montserrat or Lato for subheadings and body text created a modern contrast that kept the design from feeling too cutesy.
- Serif: For a vintage twist, I tried it with a soft serif like Playfair Display. It worked well for a retro-style café menu.
- Script Font: For a boutique skincare brand I was concepting, I paired BubleGum with a light script for a tagline. The contrast between the two added sophistication while keeping the tone warm.
